Paul Kitchen | Tuscazure Album
My new album ‘Tuscazure’ is out today. On a Harvest Moon at that! Check it out. It’s been six and half years since the release of ‘Blue Tattoo’. It took me awhile, but I think it’s a good one.

Remix/Remaster out today
In the first week of December 1984 I recorded a cover of Prince’s Purple Rain. I loved the song Purple Rain at the time, and must have felt like I could do it justice. Whether I did or not is another question. That was nearly 40 years ago now. It was recorded on half-inch 8 track tape. At the time I think I had my Gibson Melody Maker, a Prophet 600 synth, an Oberheim DX drum machine, a Fender Twin Reverb and a Rockman. I’d love to take that drum machine out , but its still in there. I guess it’s a vintage sound now.
This track was included on the unreleased collection of songs titled ‘Inner Dialogues’, and was one of only a handful of cover songs I’d attempted at the time. And I’m pretty sure it’s still the only 5 minute guitar solo I’ve ever recorded.
When he passed in April of 2016 I did a quick release of the original mix, which was pretty quickly removed from the streaming sites by Prince’s estate. I re-released the same mix two years later, and it stayed up that time. I had forgotten that I had removed it last fall from the streaming sites due to the licensing expiring. I decided to remix it from the original 8 track tapes and remaster it this time around. I hope you like this moment in time…
The 31st date on my ‘No Rhyme or Reason Tour’. I’ve recorded this song a couple times, going back to when I wrote it in 1983 I think. As on the other videos from this series, I did the take sans headphones or monitoring the guitar, Just hearing myself and the studio monitors, which contributes to the stripped down mood. If you like it please share, and check out the studio versions on my website.

The 30th date on my ‘No Rhyme or Reason Tour’. Nice to be back after almost two and half years since last doing these live recordings. I chose to do Under This Black Moon, originally from the 2015 collection of songs ‘Living With Fiction’. As on the other videos from this series, I did the take sans headphones or monitoring the guitar, Just hearing myself and the studio monitors, which contributes to the stripped down mood. If you like it please share, and check out the studio versions on my website.
