Little Johnny

Johnny ripped his dream in two
And tore into his fate
He knew just what he had to do
And this could not wait

Times had changed and it was real hard
To see the truth without swallowing hard
On the images of hell
That framed the picture

He knew tonight he shouldn't be alone
But his friends were consumed by flames of their own
As he cruised the streets he knew
Life was for the taking

She was ready but things got rough
But he knew inside he was not that tough
But the finger prints on her neck
Told the story

All he wants to do, is say he loves you
In a voice so sure that you would beg for more
But it didn't sit well with the times
Or the devil inside him

All he wants to do, is learn to let go
And open it wide, let his heart decide
But it didn't sit well in the hands of
Little Johnny

The lights were changing Johnny could not wait
No guts no glory if you hesitate
But the rules had changed ever since
His luck had faded

Some throw the I-Ching, some catch a buzz
But the lines are drawn before all of us
And we either stand tall inside them
Or stumble through them. Stumble

Pulling thread from an elastic band
You see it lose shape, collapse into strands
Like the razor blade Johnny held
To the flesh like fabric

Johnny sliced his dream into
And fell unto his fate
He knew just what he had to do
But this just couldn't wait

All he wants to do, is say he loves you
In a voice so sure that you would beg for more
But it didn't sit well with the times
Or the devil inside him

All he wants to do, is learn to let go
And open it wide, let his heart decide
But it didn't sit well in the hands of
Little Johnny
